Why having an engagement session is so important!

Aside from having some kick-ass photos to rub in your friends' faces on social media, engagement sessions will actually help make the rest of your wedding photography experience much better.  Here are a quick few reasons to schedule an engagement session.

1 - Being in front of the camera is awkward, plain and simple.
Being affectionate with your loved one in front of people you just met can be extremely uncomfortable for most people, us included.  An engagement session gives you the chance to get to know your photographer, get somewhat comfortable in front of the camera, and to learn some tips and tricks about posing before your wedding day.  See what works for you and what does not.  They say practice makes perfect and being photographed is no exception.

2 - Getting to know your photographer.  Engagement sessions are much less stressful than a wedding day.  The timeline is relaxed, near nonexistent. You will have time to chat, try out poses, get to know how your photographer works and overall just become more comfortable with the people you chose to hire to document a very important day.

3 - Most importantly, you will walk away with some amazing photos that celebrate who you are as a couple!  You will have more flexibility in where to take these photos and what time of the year/day.  The majority of our clients like to take their engagement photos in a place that is significant to them and their relationship.  Parks, city streets, gardens, restaurants, their apartment buildings, apple orchards or any place they feel is important to them but one that they might not necessarily be able to get married at.

With our style of photography relying heavily on candid moments and our relationships with our clients, engagement sessions are one of the only things you will hear us try to "sell" to our clients.
